Librarian’s Review

Lily has a new purse. She’s proud of it and she’s not afraid to show it. And talk about it. A lot. That is, until her favourite teacher confiscates it till the end of the day to keep her from disrupting the class.

In a fit of anger, Lily draws a mean picture of her teacher and slips it to him! Whatever will she do when she suddenly realises she has done something wrong? Read this story to find out about the lovable things Lily does. The pictures add many delightful and often humourous details to the story that many children will be able to relate to. Lily’s expressions often bring out a multitude of over-the-top emotions that many children feel.

A fine balance is struck, with enough text to keep children aged 5-7 interested and short sentences that do not overwhelm young readers. This is an interesting addition to the author’s series of books with mice as characters.
