The Esplanade at Marina Bay is an architectural icon of Singapore. Some love its unusual design while others dislike it. But that's not the only point of debate about the Esplanade.
Singaporeans are divided about whether the name should be pronounced as:
1. EsplaNAID - rhyming with MADE
2. EsplaNAHD – rhyming with HARD
In English, there are many words that have variations in the way they are pronounced. This is one of them. Both are acceptable.
But remember to stick to one pronunciation for consistency instead of using them interchangeably.
