A Wild Goose CHASE A Wild Goose CHASE
We often use 'purchase' instead of the simpler word 'buy' when at work, perhaps because it sounds more formal. E.g. Have you purchased the furniture and fixtures for the new resort at Bintan?
But are we saying it the right way?
Is this the way you say it - 'pur-CHASE', with the stress on CHASE and rhyming with 'place'?
If so, it’s time to correct yourself. The right pronunciation is: PUR-chase – with the stress on PUR, and ‘chase’ rhyming with 'chess'.
Listen to this podcast to get the pronunciation right.
