This word is often mispronounced and ends up sounding like ‘elevate’.
The right way to say it is ‘aLLEViate’.

It's a popular choice at meals, but we don't always say its name the right way.  Even service staff at top restaurants that serve salmon get it wrong.

We often use 'purchase' instead of the simpler word 'buy' when at work, perhaps because it sounds more formal. E.g. Have you purchased the furniture and fixtures for the new resort at Bintan?
