Talking About Colours

Print E-mail

Avoid: No more blue colour
Say: I'm sorry, we have run out of blue.

“No more blue colour”  is a direct but incorrect way of telling a customer that you have run out of the colour they want.

The word “colour”  is also redundant because “blue”  is a colour.

Avoid Saying “No More”

There is also a tendency for many Singaporeans to say “No more”  when something is not available. This is incorrect.  The right way to say it is:

  • “We have run out of it”

  • “We don’t have any more available”.

Also, don’t forget to apologise to the customer for letting him/her down because your store doesn’t have the blue item he/she wants.

The next time this happens, try saying, “I’m sorry, we have run out of the blue.”
