Phrases for Work
Run Out of a Size Run Out of a Size
Avoid: Sorry that size no more.
Say: I’m sorry. We have run out of that size.
“Sorry that size no more” is a non-standard English phrase that is often used by busy sales assistants. It can seem rude and curt to customers who are unfamiliar with the local way of speaking, even though the word ‘sorry’ is used.
Practicing Good Customer Service
Good customer service involves communicating clearly and sincerely to your customers. This means, when you apologise to your customer for letting him or her down because your store has run out of the size they want, make sure you mean it.
Saying It Right
Saying, “I’m sorry, we have run out of that size” comes across as more earnest, and because it is said in Standard English, you can be assured that foreigners will be able to understand.
