Does The Dress Fit?

Print E-mail

Avoid: How, Miss? Can wear or not?
Say: Do you like the dress, Miss? Does it fit you?

It is important to make the customer feel important and comfortable and the way you speak to them can make all the difference.

"How, Miss? Can wear or not?” is not Standard English. It can also sound like you are demanding an answer, perhaps even trying to pressure the customer into saying that it fits.

Think Before You Speak

Imagine if the customer replies in a similar tone “No cannot”? Wouldn’t that seem rather abrasive?

Pay attention to the way you speak. If you want to avoid misunderstandings, do not take the convenient route by leaving words out and speaking in non-standard English.
