In conjunction with the launch of Speak Good English Movement (SGEM) 2005 on 13th May, a weekend of fun-filled activities was lined up for the public at the HDB Hub Mall. They had a chance to sample the various creative ways that make learning English more enjoyable for adults and children alike. All activities were free and on a first come, first served basis.

SGEM partners such as the British Council, Schools Scrabble Club and National Library Board chipped in with a range of activities, such as:
- interactive storytelling for children by the Asian Storytelling Network
- Giant Scrabble and Crack The Code contests by the British Council
- Tongue Twister Family Challenge by the Society for Reading & Literacy
- Spelling Bee and Knowledge Test by the National Library Board
- Best Reading Parent Contest
- talks and workshops for parents, children and working adults
