CROSS-GENERATIONAL BONDING THROUGH STORYTELLING
In a modern society, the desire for advancement often leaves very little room for introspection and looking back to the past is sometimes regarded as a waste of time. The past, however, has a lot to teach us. It shapes our identity and our understanding of our humanity.

The Singapore International Story Telling Festival 2007 and The Speak Good English Movement proudly present “Stories My Grandparents Told Me: A Storytelling Competition”.
To be held in August 2007, this event aims to foster inter-generational understanding and appreciation of shared histories and traditions among family members.
The OBJECTIVES of this competition are:
- To encourage children to value the memories & real life experiences of the aged;
- To encourage children to record and commit to memory, stories told to them by their grandparents;
- To promote cross-generation bonding;
- To encourage the telling of stories in a succinct yet highly stimulating way.
- To promote the use of English for oral presentations.
