In a modern society, the desire for advancement often leaves very little room for introspection and looking back to the past is sometimes regarded as a waste of time. The past, however, has a lot to teach us. It shapes our identity and our understanding of our humanity.
Golden Point Award 2007
The Golden Point Award is Singapore's premiere creative writing competition. Organised biennially, this national contest began in 1992, to promote the art of creative writing in the four major languages of Singapore - English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil. It has been and still is the only national literary writing competition to celebrate new writing for both short stories and poetry in all four major languages.
Singapore's 60 Favourite Words (July 2007)
British Council is celebrating its 60th anniversary in Singapore this year. To mark this special occassion, they launched an online contest for the public to vote for their favourite Engilsh words. One lucky entrant will win a grand prize of a pair of return tickets to the UK.
