The Golden Point Award is Singapore's premiere creative writing competition. Organised biennially, this national contest began in 1992, to promote the art of creative writing in the four major languages of Singapore - English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil. It has been and still is the only national literary writing competition to celebrate new writing for both short stories and poetry in all four major languages.

The Golden Point Award 2007 is co-organised by the National Arts Council and The Arts House and is sponsored by Singapore Press Holdings and the Singapore Press Holdings Foundation. It is a biennial writing competition that aims to achieve the following:
- Identify new creative writing talent
- Promote the art of creative writing
- Encourage talented local writers to strive for the highest level of literary skill
- Create a conducive environment for creative thinking and literary expression in Singapore
