Background
The Speak Good English Movement is a nationwide movement to encourage Singaporeans to speak grammatically correct English that is universally understood. It is to get Singaporeans to speak English with confidence at work, at home and at play. The movement was launched in the year 2000 by then Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong.
Focus for 2007/2008
The Speak Good English Movement or SGEM launches their programmes and events this year with a new theme and graphic. The seventh year of the campaign marks the evolution of SGEM's efforts to have Singaporeans speak and use good English by also looking at the language of the heart.
