Free English Workshops by The British Council

The British Council, in partnership with the Speak Good English Movement, is organising a series of 4 FREE English workshops at the Programme Zone, Woodlands Regional Library.

Conducted by Matthew Windchester from British Council Singapore, the workshops cover 4 topics:

This workshop guides parents and teachers on how they can use books to teach their kindergarten or primary school children English through “101 Activities with Books”. Matthew will also share:

  • the many different ways to read
  • various approaches, such as Phonics, that one can take when teaching a child through reading

  • top tips to encourage your child to read

Singlish vs Standard English

Open to everyone, this workshop raises the awareness of the difference between Singlish and English, as well as the occasions when it is, or is not, appropriate to use the colloquial language. Matthew will also be highlighting the common errors in the use of English.
