Is it grammatically correct to say someone is ‘on reservist’?
QUESTION
Should it be ‘on reservist’ or ‘on reservist training’? And should we use a capital ‘r’ for ‘reservist’?
ANSWER
Because ‘reservist’ is the name we give to the entire activity, we would prefer saying that someone is ‘at reservist’. It’s like saying that you’re at work or at lunch.
As to whether ‘reservist’ should be capitalised, we’d say either way is fine.
