2007/08: Rock Your World
Highlights of our partner programmes.
- Rock Your World: A Social Networking Initiative
Over 48 weeks from August 07 – June 08, the Speak Good English Movement (SGEM) reached out to 9,500 young Singaporeans with its weekly Rock Your World (RYW) programmes at Timbre – showcasing good English expressed creatively through music, oratorical performances, film, drama, stand up comedy and poetry.
- Mad About English!
Partner: Mad About English! Mad About English!, supported by the Speak Good English Movement, opens in cinemas on 7 August 2008! Mad About English! is a hilarious and heartwarming film about the people of China and their mad, mad rush to learn English before the Olympics begins.
- The Inspiring Teacher of English Award
The Straits Times and the Speak Good English Movement present the Inspiring Teacher of English Award – the first national award for English teachers in Singapore schools that acknowledges teachers who: * ignite a love for the English language in their students * use innovative methods to engage students and help them speak and write
- The Inspiring Teacher Award is now open for nominations!

- Fat Kids Are Harder To Kidnap – 31 plays in 1 hour!
Partner: Youth Empire Fat Kids Are Harder To Kidnap, a theatrical production co-presented by the Speak Good English Movement and Youth Empire, and performed by How Drama company, had a whirlwind run over the course of 3 Wednesdays from 5 to 19 March 2008.
- Schools Digital Media Awards (SDMA) 2008
For SDMA 2008, participants were invited to express their views on a variety of themes that reflected local as well as global issues. - Launch of the School Invasion Tour at Temasek Junior College
Partner: School Invasion Tour It was an extra-special day for students in Temasek Junior College (TJC) as the School Invasion Tour, endorsed by the Speak Good English Movement, kicked off their 6 month long tour in the TJC auditorium on 31 January 2008!
- Speak Good English Day at Singapore Polytechnic
Partner: Singapore Polytechnic Rain could not dampen the spirits of students from Singapore Polytechnic as they had a ball of a time speaking good English. The Speak Good English Day, held on Nov 28 at the Singapore Polytechnic was organised by students and lecturers from the School of Business, which aims to show students that
