Studies have found that one of the best predictors of later educational success is the number of interesting stories a child had been told. In this workshop you will discover how you can foster your child’s intellectual, emotional and social development and lay the groundwork for literacy and language learning through telling stories to your children.
Topics covered in this workshop will include:
- What are the benefits of storytelling for you and your children?
- What types of stories and storytelling styles will appeal to children of different ages?
- Types of story you can tell
- How to unlock your personal stories
- Some simple easy-to-tell-stories
- Some fun storytelling activities to explore
The session will be highly interactive; it will include some demos by the trainer, and lots of participation by the attendees. Handouts will be given to all participants. The workshop is suitable for parents, grandparents, other family members, and those wishing to prepare for parenthood.
